How Much Does a Plumber Cost in the South Bay? (2026 Real Numbers)
"How much will it cost?" is the first thing every homeowner asks. Most plumber sites bury it under "starting at" or "call for quote." Here are the honest numbers I quote on the phone, by job type, in 2026 dollars in the South Bay.

- Standard drain snake (single fixture): $125–$250.

- Open-trench full lateral replacement: $7,000–$18,000.
Water heaters
- Tank water heater service call (thermocouple, T&P, anode rod): $200–$650.

- Faucet replacement: $200–$400 plus faucet.
- Garbage disposal replacement: $250–$450.
Gas lines
- New gas line for a range or dryer: $400–$1,200.
- Gas line upgrade for tankless water heater: $1,500–$3,000.
- Gas leak diagnosis & repair: $250–$700.
- Outdoor BBQ stub-out with shutoff: $600–$1,400.
Why prices vary
Most of the variance comes from access. Sewer lines under a finished basement floor cost more than sewer lines accessible from a side yard. Water heaters in a tight closet with three other appliances stacked on top take longer than ones in an open garage. We tell you which end of the range you fall on after a 5-minute look.
